Elon Musk Shuts Down Jover Laurio’s Twitter Account!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Just hours after YouTube terminated Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s channel for violation of YouTube rules, Twitter shut down the account of Jover Laurio of the infamous Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB).

The unprecedented move by Twitter owner Elon Musk came after Laurio tweeted a threatening message on her account.

Laurio was reacting to statement by Quiboloy is “bullet-proof” to which she replied, “Sample, sample,” insinuating that someone should shoot the pastor — a clear and irrevocable violation of Twitter rules.

Twitter rules couldn’t be any clearer than this: “You may not threaten, incite, glorify, or express desire for violence of harm.”

U.P. Names Leni Robredo Top Alumnus, Drops In Asian University Ranking!

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – You reap what you sow, the saying goes, and the University of the Philippines learned this lesson well.

After naming ex-Vice President Leni Robredo one of its top alumni, U.P.’s ranking among universities in Asia dropped almost 50 percent!

The state university is now ranked in the 201-250 bracket, according to the Times Higher Education Rankings for 2023.

Last year, U.P. placed 129 in the rankings.

What a difference a year makes. What a difference an award to Robredo makes!

The Philippines’ Best University Trails Far Behind In Asia!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) popped the champagne as it was named the top university in the Philippines, besting the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University and Mapua Institute of Technology.

But “top” is relative especially when seen from a wider scheme of things.

Ateneo placed 84th in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2023. That’s 83 notches lower than the top universities in Asia.

The University of the Philippines (UP), meanwhile, was in the 201-250 bracket, after placing 129th the year prior. Quite an embarrassing feat for the country’s state university, which boasts of a student population of “scholars” (Iskolar ng Bayan).

U.P. is the alma mater of ex-Vice President Leni Robredo, ex-Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon and other leading Opposition politicians. But we digress.
