by Jake Don

NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Naga Bureau) – Ex-Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo has announced her candidacy for Barangay elections this year.  After years of dealing with national issues, she’s decided that the fate of our tiny neighborhoods is where her true calling lies.

In a recent interview, Robredo said the Barangay elections are the most important of all elections.

A spokesperson for Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles that with her extensive experience in high-stakes politics, one can only imagine the grand plans she has for her local Barangay. The former VP is registered with Barangay Carangcang, Magurao, Camarines Sur.

“Perhaps she’ll introduce a federal Barangay system or negotiate international trade deals for our local talipapa,” the spokesperson added.

One thing’s for sure, this election will be a real nail-biter as we wait to see if Robredo’s national clout can translate into Barangay success.

Former NTF-ELCAC Officials Given A Slap On The Wrist By Ombudsman!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Former anti-communist task force officials Antonio Parlade Jr. and Lorraine Badoy were found guilty by the Ombudsman over the red-tagging of human rights lawyers and members of various progressive groups.

In a 17-page decision, Ombudsman Samuel Martires found Parlade and Badoy guilty of conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

A penalty of “reprimand” imposed on the two former officials.

A slap on the wrist that diminishes fear of the anti-graft and corruption court among potential government crooks.

Bureau Of Internal Revenue Summons Vice Ganda! (Video)

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – TV host Vice Ganda and her noontime show, “It’s Showtime!” seem to be the target of summons these days.

First, his show’s producers were summoned by the Movie and Television Review and Classifications Board (MTRCB) for that one episode where Vice and Ion Perez were shown erotically licking cake icing in front of young kids. MTRCB subsequently imposed a 12-day suspension for the show.

Now, Vice has been summoned by the Bureau of Internal Revenue after he revealed in an interview with ride-hailing and delivery app company CEO George Royeca, that he made so much wealth he couldn’t count it anymore.

The BIR summons seeks to establish whether or not Vice Ganda has been paying his taxes, or the correct amount.

Moral of the story: don’t flaunt you wealth on national television or social media. The BIR is watching!
