The Shameless, Hypocritical Representative France Castro

ACT-Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro has taken a break from her usual role as the guardian of education to lecture Vice President Sara Duterte on the delicate dance of separation of powers.

Castro, ever the champion of paradox, lambasts Duterte for allegedly interfering in the House of Representatives while conveniently overlooking the fact that Congress itself has pirouetted into an unwitting accomplice in the International Criminal Court’s grand ball of justice.

It’s a spectacle of hypocrisy as Castro scorns the VP for purportedly meddling in legislative affairs while Congress, with a collective shrug, hands over the keys to the ICC’s investigation into the Philippines’ war on drugs.

Perhaps in the twisted logic of the political circus, allowing an international body to waltz into the country’s judicial affairs is not interference but a well-choreographed performance of sovereignty.

Bravo, Congress, for your dazzling display of contorted principles and legislative somersaults.

Miss Universe 2023: Boy Abunda Was Called But Not Chosen

Filipino TV host Boy Abunda revealed that he was invited but disqualified from gracing the event with his esteemed presence as a judge. The revelation, akin to the unveiling of the eighth wonder of the world, left the world wondering, “Who could possibly disqualify the oracle of wisdom, the epitome of judgment?”

Some skeptics suggest that Abunda’s revelation was a well-calculated maneuver to bask in the controversial limelight already surrounding Michelle Dee, making it seem like a cosmic conspiracy against the dynamic duo.

Perhaps Abunda should consider trading his celebrity status for a pew in a Bible study, where he might absorb the timeless lesson that “many are called, but few are chosen.” It’s a bitter pill to swallow for the disqualified, a reminder that in the universe of judging, only the truly qualified get to wear the crown or don the judge’s robe.

Michelle Dee’s Miss Universe Awards A Hometown Decision?

At the recently-concluded Miss Universe pageant, Michelle Dee managed to scoop up an impressive four major awards, leaving spectators wondering if the competition had secretly been moved to her hometown.

However, the irony was not lost on the audience when Dee failed to secure a spot in the coveted Top 5. It turns out that, despite the glitzy affair being hosted in El Salvador, the real battleground for victory was online, where Filipinos unleashed a tsunami of votes.

Dee’s triumph in said categories seemed to mirror a virtual hometown advantage. The Spirit of Carnival Award, the lone exception, added a dash of international flair, making it the only recognition not seemingly influenced by the digital power of passionate Filipinos.

In the end, as Michelle Dee walked away without the Miss Universe crown, one couldn’t help but wonder if the real winners were the internet-savvy citizens of the Philippines.
