Unique Barong Design For Filipino Olympians Unveiled

In a bold fusion of fashion and functionality, Filipino flagbearers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will stride into the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony clad in “Sinag” barongs, courtesy of renowned designer Francis Libiran.

The Philippine Olympic Committee announced Wednesday that the intricate design, inspired by the humble arm and shoulder sling, will debut on July 26. This avant-garde choice, which Adobo Chronicles cheekily notes might double as emergency medical attire, is already turning heads.

Libiran, always a trailblazer, has brilliantly merged style with an innovative nod to injury recovery gear. “It’s a statement on resilience,” he quipped, as the nation applauded the unexpected twist.

Critics, however, wonder if the next fashion frontier might include neck braces or orthopedic boots.

In any case, Petecio and Paalam are set to parade not just the flag but also the country’s flair for turning adversity into high fashion.

Is Facebook/META Now Also Homophobic?

It seems Facebook/META is losing it. In the name of its supposed “community standards,” it has been removing posts which they describe as “getting likes in a misleading way.”

Satirical posts by The Adobo Chronicles have been removed because we tagged, listen to this, OUR OWN TEAM!

But they’ve gone too far. We posted a gay-themed song in commemoration of PRIDE month. (The song was about the life experience of a gay man who was practically tortured by his father because of his sexual orientation.)

Facebook/META removed it for the same reason they removed our other posts: “getting likes in a misleading way!”
We didn’t even tag anyone!

Of Sour-graping Turncoats (Video)

In the ever-entertaining circus of political chameleons, Trixie Cruz-Angeles dazzles us once again.

Once, her vlogs overflowed with paeans to Bongbong Marcos, portraying him as a messianic figure poised to lead the Philippines into a golden age. Her zeal earned her a coveted seat as presidential press secretary, a position she treated like a YouTube comment section: ephemeral and fraught with drama.

But alas, the palace door hit her on the way out, and now she’s found a new banner to wave. As a freshly minted member of the pro-Duterte, anti-Marcos Maisug brigade, Trixie now cries of “excesses and abuses” with the same fervor she once reserved for Marcos fanfare.

Declaring VP Inday Sara the anointed leader, she clings to principles as firmly as a leaf in a hurricane. It’s a spectacular display of loyalty—loyalty to self-interest, that is. How thrillingly predictable!
