Pacquiao Cancels Fight With Spence!

LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – Manny Pacquiao has filed notice with the World Boxing Council of his intent to cancel his title fight with Errol Spence scheduled next month in Las Vegas.

The boxer-turned-Senator made this announcement hours after he was ‘ousted’ president of his own political party, PDP-Laban. Pacquiao is in the U.S. as part of his training and preparations for the boxing match.

Pacquiao has booked his return flight to Manila on Philippine Airlines.

In a statement, Pacquiao says he intends to take back the position he was stripped of, calling the move by his colleagues a “coup.”

The Senator has been in hot water lately for his statements and criticism of Rodrigo Duterte, accusing the Administration of corruption worse than previous presidencies.

Pacquiao has made known his intention to run for President in his country’s 2022 national elections.

”The fight for the Presidency is greater and more important than any of my fights in the ring,” the Senator said.

Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Lifetime Vice President?

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – To run or not to run, that is the question.

But if Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wasn’t joking when he said he will keep on running for Vice President just to avoid criminal prosecution after he completes his 6-year term in 2022, he could very well be the country’s Vice President for life.

In reality Duterte could only be VP for two terms, or a total of 12 years.

The Philippine Constitution allows one reelection for an elected Vice President.

In 2022, Duterte will be 77 years old. So if he runs for VP and wins, and runs for and wins reelection to a second term, he will be 89 by the time he completes both terms.

So, he could be VP for life. Unless he survives the 12 years.
