MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos describe it as a match made in heaven — the “son of a dictator” and ”daughter of the Punisher” uniting to run as President and Vice President, respectively, of their country in the coming 2022 elections.
The filing of the certificate of candidacy by Davao City Mayor and Presidential daughter Sara Duterte yesterday sent people celebrating in the streets and on social media, with posts blazoned with the red and green colors (red associated with Marcos and green associated with Duterte). On the other hand, the much-awaited announcement sent hundreds if not thousands of yellows and pinks (colors associated with the Opposition) to Emergency Rooms for elevated high blood pressure and panic attacks.
Many believe that Bongbong Marcos as President and Sara Duterte as VP would put the country on the road to becoming great again — led by a tiger and an eagle.
The Philippines was not alone in this celebratory mood. Famous buildings and monuments across the globe joined in the frenzy, lighting up with the colors of red and green.
Is this now the period of unification in the Philippines, and in the world?
