LAS VEGAS, Nevada  (The Adobo Chronicles) – A lawsuit was filed against Manny Pacquiao in the US District Court in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning for the Filipino boxer’s failure to disclose his shoulder injury before his fight with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on May 2.

The potential class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of Staphane Vanel and Kami Rahbaran, both of Clark County, who are seeking as much as $5 million in damages.

The plaintiffs said they relied on misrepresentations and non-disclosures when they bought their tickets or pay per view showings and wagered on the Mayweather-Pacquiao “fight of the century.”

Also named in the lawsuit are Bob Arum of Top Rank Inc.; Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s adviser; Todd Duboef; and other unknown defendants.

Upon learning about the lawsuit, Mayweather reached out to Pacquiao in a gesture of the proverbial olive branch. Mayweather said that he will gladly pay the $5 Million in damages sought in the lawsuit if Pacquiao is convicted. “After all, that’s just a chunk of change for me,” the American boxer told reporters.

Observers are now saying that all those ‘hugs’ by Mayweather during the May 2nd fight were done out of love for Pacquiao, like some sort of a bromance.

Pacquiao himself, during an interview with a Filipino television network about those Mayweather hugs said, ‘Mahal niya yata ako’ (I think he loves me).

WHY MOMMY D WAS MISSING DURING THE PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT

imageLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – When Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao last defeated Timothy Bradley, the American accused Pacquiao’s mom, popularly known as Mommy D, of voodooism.

So naturally, the big question at last Saturday’s ‘Fight of the Century’ between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather was : ‘Where was Mommy D?’

It turns out that one of the demands by Mayweather when he signed the agreement to fight Pacquiao was to ban Mommy D from the MGM Grand arena during fight night.  Mayweather was concerned that Pacquiao’s mom would cast a spell on the American boxer which would lead to his loss to the Filipino.

So now the world knows that Mommy D’s absence from the MGM Arena resulted in Mayweather’s unanimous decision win over Pacquiao.  No voodooism. No spell cast.

TO APPEASE DISGRUNTLED BOXING FANS, PACQUIAO AND MAYWEATHER AGREE TO A RE-MATCH FOR FREE!

CaptureLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – It is no secret that the Pacquiao-Mayweather ‘fight of the century’ held last Saturday in Las Vegas angered many boxing fans who claimed that the fight was not worth the money they paid to watch it.

Many who paid an average of $6,268  to watch the event live at the MGM Grand, or who spent $100 in a one-time subscription to Pay-per-View (PPV), described the fight as nothing but “all hype.” Some even went to the lengths of calling it a “mismatch.”

Initial estimates place the total revenue from PPV at more than $400 Million.

Mayweather earned $83,333 per second from the 12-rounds, while Pacquiao pocketed $55,555 per second.

It is therefore not surprising that viewers and fans are very disgruntled with no way to satifsy nor recoup their investment in this high-profile event.

In a sincere effort to pacify all the anger and frustration, both the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps, with the blessing of MGM Grand and PPV, have agreed to a re-match in the fall of this year.

Realizing that a re-match will not generate the kind of interest and money generated by the May 2nd fight, it was announced that the re-match will be free of charge to the first 16,800 people who will sign up to see the re-match at the MGM Grand.  PPV will also broadcast the re-match live for free, through all cable and television networks that will choose to show it live.

Revenue for both fighters, MGM Grand and PPV will come 100% from sponsorships — assuming there will be any takers. So far, only San Miguel Beer, has signed up to be a sponsor, replacing Tecate beer which was a major sponsor of the May 2nd fight.
