Pura Luka Vega Impersonates Slovenian Basketball Player, Gets Ejected!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipino drag artist Pura Luka Vega may have been declared persona non grata in Manila and many other Philippine cities, but he continues to do what he does best: impersonate characters and personalities.

Case in point, Vega impersonated Slovenian player and namesake Luka Doncic in a recent FIBA World Cup game in Manila.

Nobody recognized Vega, not even when he was ejected after receiving his second technical foul during the quarterfinal match against Canada.

Moral of the story: those persona non grata declarations don’t have teeth.

One Million Pesos Await This “Best-Dressed” Man At FIBA World Cup!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Basketball in the Philippines is not all about the home team winning a game, FIBA World Cup or not. It is also about the fans.

This man was caught on camera in full regalia wearing a barong Tagalog and giant buri hat during one of the Gilas Pilipinas games at the Araneta Coliseum.

Gilas Pilipinas patron Manny V. Pangilinan was so impressed with the man’s dedication and loyalty to the team that he is offering P1M (that’s one million pesos) if he comes forward to show proof of his identity.

“We may have failed at a World Cup title, but we have shown the entire world that the Philippines stands by its team — coaching problems notwithstanding,” Pangilinan said.

Pangilinan is asking the public’s help to identify and contact this man so he could personally hand the P1M gift check to this loyal soul!

Manny Pacquiao Sets Eye On Olympic Gold For The Wrong Reason!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – No boxer in history has won world titles in more weight classes than Manny Pacquiao. The Filipino legend has done it in eight divisions.

Now, the boxer-turned-senator, has set his eye on a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, albeit for the wrong reason.

Pacquiao’s goal is to reap the same (or more) financial benefits as weight lifter Hidilyn Diaz, the first Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal. Diaz reportedly received some P40 million in rewards as a result of her historical feat.

Paquiao sees the Paris Olympics as his ticket to avoiding possible bankruptcy resulting from his lavish lifestyle, excessive spending, pending law suits, and depleted coffers from his failed 2022 Philippine presidential election bid.

Regardless of Pacquiao’s intentions, a second Olympic gold medal for the Philippines will bring honor and prestige to the country.
