Fans and followers of National Artist Ryan Cayabyab couldn’t believe their eyes when what seemed like an obituary for the Filipino composer extraordinaire flashed on their Facebook page. ”No, he couldn’t pass so soon,” exclaimed one netizen.

Well, it turned out Cayabyab is still alive and kicking.

The culprit was an unnamed graphic designer, and possibly promoter, who was super excited to announce an upcoming tribute to lost souls. And there he was, Cayabyab, pictured in the center of the ”obituary” that surprised fans and critics. It was only upon closer and more critical reading of the announcement that people realized the composer was to be the host of the tribute, not the subject of it.

So, keep calm. Cayabyab is still around and we all look forward to more brilliant compositions in the days, months and years to come.
