QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – We must admit that Wikipedia is not necessarily the best source of news especially because many of its content are through crowdsourcing and viewer contributions.

But compared to the biased reporting of supposedly legitimate news sources, like ABS-CBN News, Wikipedia excels in providing context and extensive background to news stories.

Case in point: ABS-CBN News recently posted an abbreviated news story on the number of foreign trips undertaken by Philippine President Bongbong Marcos, pointing out that he has gone on 11 foreign trips in less than a year of his presidency. The insinuation? The Philippines has a junketing head of state.

But Wikipedia provides the background and context that ABS-CBN News maliciously omits.

Most, if not all, of Marcos’ foreign trips were working or state visits during which he met with his counterpart heads of state, or that he and his delegation attended ASEAN and Asia Pacific Summits. He also addressed the United Nations in his first U.S. visit.

Even in his most criticized travel to Singapore to be at the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix, Marcos informally met with the country’s Prime Minister.

Marcos has also made it a point to meet with the Filipino communities in the countries he visited.

Never mind that Marcos brought home investment and other packages that would benefit the country, ABS-CBN News chose to focus on arithmetic: 11 trips in just about 10 months of the Marcos presidency.
