‘The Yellows Are Tired Of Loving Their Country’ — Archbishop Villegas

A317ECFF-6368-43BF-BB44-AF63CCCDAA70MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Some Filipinos are getting tired of loving their country, which they claim has fallen into a disturbing moral decay.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas expressed this sentiment in an open letter on Saturday to Sen. Leila de Lima, who in several days will mark her first year in detention on drug charges.

“There are some of us who are beginning to feel a fatigue for loving our country,” the former president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Villegas as he was about to board his limousine on his way to his hometown in Pangasinan, and we asked him what he meant by “some Filipinos.”

”Well, precisely, I said ‘some’ because this does not apply to majority of Filipinos.  I was referring to a minority group of Pinoys — specifically the Dilawan (yellows) who seem to have nothing positive left to say about their government and country,” he said.

”If they have nothing good to say, they should just shut up and go into hibernation.  That’s the Catholic way.  Even Jesus had good things to say about sinners, criminals and the Pharisees,” Villegas added.

Go tell them, Monsignor!

CALOOCAN CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Many Filipinos skipped their Valentine’s celebration in favor of their Catholic tradition relating to Ash Wednesday.  They trooped to their parish churches to be blessed with ash on their foreheads.

But alas, some parishioners of the San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan City got the shock of their lives.  Little did they know that they were getting tattoos instead.

According to reports, when said parishioners tried to wipe off the ash from their foreheads because they felt some burning sensation, off came their skin as well.

Ah, the sacrifices one has to make as a devout Catholic. A cross tattoo.

There’s Dengavaxia, now there’s Ashfixia!

Vatican Urges World’s Catholics To Skip Valentine’s Day This Year

AC190526-9B76-4F15-8C25-0EDAEC0DBA1EROME, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The Vatican is urging devout Catholics worldwide to skip celebrating Valentine’s Day this year.

February 14, 2018 is not only the Day of Hearts, but also Ash Wednesday, one of the more revered holy days in the Catholic Faith.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence, so Pope Francis has asked all Catholics to refrain from eating meat or engaging in corporal acts.

Restaurant Associations around the world are reporting a steep decline in the number of Valentine’s dinner reservations this year. “Our usual customers seem to be fasting this Valentine’s Day,” they said.

From dust we came and unto dust we shall return.
