Leni Robredo’s Angat Buhay Goes Begging — In America!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Even Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) get bogged down by bureaucracy.

After a year since its founding, Leni Robredo’s Angat Buhay Foundation (Angat Pinas) is finally launching its website. Many have questioned why it has taken that long when common sense dictates a website should have been among the first projects of the NGO.

Well, there’s more.

Angat Buhay is also launching a donation portal to raise funds IN America. That says a lot for an NGO whose mission is to uplift the lives of Filipinos.

Indeed, very uplifting to promote the culture of mendicancy!

President Bongbong Marcos Is Not Impressed By The National ID

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There was too much hype about the Philippines’ National ID. It was meant to facilitate public and private transactions that required official verification of one’s legal status.

But the law and its implementation were a total failure, starting with the almost two-year delay in the delivery of the plastic document.

Even President Bongbong Marcos is not impressed. He said the ID is a essentially a picture of an ID with no data that backs it up.

So what gives?

Gather all your identification documents when dealing with government offices or public entities like banks. Have your passport, Tax # ID, GSIS or SSS membership card, PhilHealth and Pag-ibig IDs, PhilPost ID, Barangay ID, Cedula, Senior Citizen/PWD/Student ID and all the nine yards.

It’s the reality. If you’re Filipino or live in the Philippines.

ANGKAT BUHAY: Leni Robredo Proposes New Immigration Policy To Attract Foreign Manpower!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ex-Vice President Leni Robredo is back in the limelight after a year of her embarrassing loss to Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 presidential elections.

Robredo has been busy beefing up her pet project, Angat Buhay, collaborating with other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to create what she is describing as the largest volunteer network in the Philippines.

The ex-VP has other worthy projects in mind.

Concerned about the problem of “brain drain” whereby Filipino professionals are leaving the country to work and live abroad, Robredo is proposing a new campaign she is calling “Angkat Buhay.”

In her proposal, Robredo urged appropriate agencies in the Marcos administration to encourage foreign nationals to work and live in the Philippines as a way to replace the outgoing Filipino professionals.

“We need to replace our domestic manpower resources,” she said, “by opening our country to foreigners who wish to work and live here, visa-free and tax-free.”

Robredo volunteered to head a new department she wants to call DAB: Department of Angkat Buhay.
