Compromise Reached: Controversial Torre De Manila Construction Resumes

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – No conflict is without a resolution.

On Monday, the Philippines’ Supreme Court, with a vote of 8-5,  issued a restraining order against the construction of the 46-storey Torre de Manila. A temporary restraining order immediately went into effect enjoining respondent DMCI Project Developers Inc. from continuing with the construction and development of the condominium project.

Petitioner Knights of Rizal said the building mars the view of the Rizal Monument in Luneta Park and would completely dominate the vista, substantially diminishing in scale and importance the most cherished monument of the country’s national hero.

On Tuesday, the high court ruled the construction can resume after the developer submitted a new plan that was immediately accepted by the petitioner.

The new plan calls for the draping of the front facade of the condominium building with a giant Philippine flag. The flag, which would be the size of 40 floors of the building, will drape the building for 24 hours, 365 days a year. The developer will also ensure that the giant flag will immediately be replaced with a new one if torn or damaged by Manila’s weather conditions.

“We actually love the idea,” the Knights of Rizal said, “because the giant flag provides a very appropriate backdrop for the monument.  After all, Rizal is our  national hero and he deserves to be honored as such.”

Conflict resolved!

SPOKANE, Washington (The Adobo Chronicles) -The alleged white woman who has  been posing as an African American today revealed that she was also part Native American and part Hawaiian.

For nearly a decade, Rachel Dolezal, who heads the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington, has claimed to be African American. However, her parents, who appeared on HuffPostLive Friday, have revealed that she is white.

While some argue that Ms. Dolezal was merely sympathetic to the cause, Rachel was committed to blackface and playing the role on a daily basis by bronzing her skin and wearing black hairstyles. Rachel’s IG handle is, Afrocentricfemme.”

But there’s more. Rachel also claims to be Native American, although she has not stated from what Tribal Nation she hails.  She says she was born in a Montana tipi in 1977 and that her family hunted for food  with bows and arrows.

She also claims that she is part Hawaiian, telling reporters that her daily diet consists of poi (a Hawaiian staple) and lau lau (a pork and seafood dish wrapped in taro leaves). Her favorite dessert is haupia, a coconut-based pudding popular in the Hawaiian islands.

The Adobo Chronicles  tried to look at records to see if she had attended the Kamehameha School which is exclusive to Native Hawaiians or part Native Hawaiians.  We have not found any record to support Rachel’s claim.

WEATHER: MOTORCYCLE SUFFERS HEAT STROKE IN MANILA’S 95-DEGREE TEMPERATURE

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – May is among the hottest months in the Philippines, with temperatures rising above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

May 29, 2015 was one of those scorching hot days in Manila, registering 95 degrees on the mercury scale.

Airconditioners were in full blast (except at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport which was practically a dry sauna) and the malls were filled to capacity by residents trying to escape the extremely hot and humid weather.

Unfortuntely, even non-humans were severely affected by the hot weather, including this motorcycle parked in front of a Manila residence. The poor motorcycle suffered a heat stroke  and it was all caught on closed circuit TV (CCTV):
