Will MTRCB Hang Joey De Leon’s Hosting Career For Insensitive ‘Rope’ Comment?

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – In a disgusting display of culinary cluelessness, Joey de Leon of the “EAT” noontime show has once again proven that his grasp on taste extends no further than the confines of his food-centric program.

When contestants were asked to name things people hang around their necks, de Leon chimed in with, “Lubid, lubid!” (a rope, a rope). Clearly, he’s dishing out a different kind of ‘rope soup’ that only he can stomach.

Obviously, de Leon was referring to a noose, a loop with a running knot, tightening as the rope or wire is pulled and is typically used to hang people or trap animals. It has also become a symbol of slavery.

Maybe he’s just concocting a new recipe for a hangman’s lunchbox? While viewers were left hanging in disbelief, we can only hope that de Leon’s next dish will be a little less… dark.

Will MTRCB summon de Leon and mete him with the proper punishment?

Andy Bautista Posts Bail To Attend Folsom Street Fair!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Former Commission on Elections Chief Andy Bautista appeared in court yesterday to post bail after he was sued by the U.S. government for alleged money laundering.

Bautista, who fled the Philippines in 2017 to escape accusations of unexplained wealth and to dodge a subpoena issued by the Senate, was all smiles as he handed the clerk of court a check for $50,000.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Bautista as he was leaving the courthouse. We asked him about his urgency was in posting bail.

He said Sunday, September 24, is Folsom Street Fair, the annual street gathering/party of leather-loving San Franciscans and those with all sorts of fetishes connected with cowhide. (Bautista is known in the Philippines of having a leather fetish, and Filipinos call him “boy latigo,” meaning whip boy.)

“I wouldn’t miss Folsom for anything,” he said.

We asked him what he intends to wear to the fair but he declined to say. “I have a flair for surprises,” he said, “so I’ll see there.”

NAIA Security Guard Turns Out To Be A Mere Copycat!

NINOY AQUINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The airport security guard caught on CCTV swallowing three hundred dollars allegedly stolen from a departing passenger at NAIA turns out to be a second-rate, trying hard copycat!

Her act caught the entire world by surprise and disbelief as a never-before thought of MO (modus operandi) by airport personnel to steal from passengers.

But alas, dollar-swallowing is not a new phenomenon. Others elsewhere in the world have done so with much larger amounts and without the peering eyes of CCTVs.

Sorry, no Guinness world record for the Philippines this time!
