Like Father, Like . . .

In the saga of “like father, like son,” Mayor Baste Duterte seems eager to uphold the family tradition of blunt-force governance.

Following in his father’s footsteps, he’s declared his own rendition of a ‘war on drugs,’ complete with a chorus of ominous threats echoing those of Rodrigo. With five suspects swiftly meeting their demise in a 24-hour period, it’s a script ripped straight from the Duterte playbook.

The International Criminal Court, already eyeing Papa Duterte for potential crimes against humanity, must be contemplating a family package deal.

Amidst the bravado, however, lies a city shrouded in contradictions. Davao, the supposed bastion of drug eradication, now leads the charts in urban poverty under the junior Duterte’s reign. Could there be a link between the city’s current drug problem and its burgeoning poverty levels? Or perhaps it’s merely the sound of dissent being drowned out by the clamor of propaganda.

In the saga of the D Dynasty, truth remains the ultimate casualty.

Atty. Glenn Chong Ignorant Of The Law?

Atty. Glenn Chong’s recent antics in the political theater seem to have taken a bizarre turn into the realm of slapstick comedy, quite literally.

In what can only be described as a peculiar display of misplaced bravado, Chong openly expressed his desire to slap First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos during a prayer rally. One might assume he missed the memo that assault isn’t a pious practice.

But it gets better – or worse, depending on your perspective. Chong then backpedaled, claiming he merely intended to commit the assault, but someone else took the initiative.

Bravo, Atty. Chong, for proving that even in the world of attempted battery, your legal prowess knows no bounds. It’s a masterclass in self-incrimination disguised as political discourse.

Perhaps Atty. Chong should consider redirecting his energies towards studying the law rather than unwittingly becoming a case study in it.

After all, in the court of public opinion, ignorance may not be bliss, but it sure is entertaining.
