DFA Unveils New, Updated Philippine Passport.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In a groundbreaking move, the Department of Foreign Affairs has proudly presented the revamped Philippine passport, featuring a staggering alteration: “Pilipinas” has been rebranded as “Filipinas.”

The DFA claims this linguistic makeover was inspired by none other than Miss Universe Philippines, Michelle Dee, who is rumored to introduce herself as the representative from “Filipinas” in a nod to the country’s historical roots as Las Islas Filipinas (1500’s).

Critics are calling it a stroke of genius, while others are wondering if next, they’ll be adding “Cute Republic of Filipinas” as the official designation. Stay tuned for more linguistic acrobatics from the DFA!

Michelle Dee Will Precede Miss Finland In Miss Universe Line-up

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (The Adobo Chronicles, El Salvador Bureau) – In the alphabetical tradition of the introduction of Miss Universe contestants, Miss Philippines has always come after Miss Peru. But in the 2023 pageant, Miss Philippines will be introduced before Miss Finland.

The reason?

The Philippines’ Michelle Marquez Dee has decided to introduce herself as the representative from Filipinas!

At least, she will gain points with the audiences (or judges) from Spanish and South American countries.

Not a bad strategy!

The Circus Known As The Marcos Ill-gotten Wealth

In a stunning display of chronological gymnastics, the Philippine Supreme Court has afffirmed the dismissal of ill-gotten wealth cases against the Marcoses, showcasing a commitment to nostalgia that rivals even the most dedicated history buffs.

Critics wonder if the esteemed Philippine court system is equipped with a judicial time machine, transporting itself back to an era when shoulder pads were the rage and Walkmans were cutting-edge technology.

Reminiscent of a ’90s sitcom rerun, this decision echoes a U.S. court’s similar dismissal in 1990, proving that in the Philippines, justice operates on a time delay. Perhaps the judiciary is still grappling with the concept of the internet, unaware that the rest of the world has moved on to self-driving cars and virtual reality.

Adding to the befuddlement, if there was never any ill-gotten wealth, one can’t help but wonder what happened to the billions diligently recovered by the Cory Aquino-created PCGG. Perhaps they were unwittingly invested in a time-travel venture, ensuring that confusion remains the only constant in this bewildering legal saga.
