ICC Aftermath: Russia’ Putin Offers Asylum To Philippines’ Duterte

MOSCOW, Russia (The Adobo Chronicles, Moscow Bureau) – Soon after the International Criminal Court rejected the Philippine government’s appeal to stop the investigation of Rodrigo Duterte for alleged crimes against humanity, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered the former Philippine president asylum in Moscow.

Putin himself has a warrant of arrest issued by the ICC.

Although both Russia and the Philippines are no longer part of the Rome Statute which created the criminal court, Putin told Duterte that he would be much safer in Moscow than in Davao City, Philippines. “You never know if and when the American forces stationed in the Philippines under EDCA (Enhanced Defense Cooperative Agreement) would cooperate with ICC to arrest and turn you over to the The Hague,” Putin told Duterte.

In return, Duterte also offered the Russian president a safe haven in Davao City should he be in danger of arrest by his detractors in Moscow.

Leni Robredo Named ‘Person Of Interest’ In Expanded ICC Probe On PH War On Drugs!

THE HAGUE, The Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has denied the Philippine government’s request for the suspension of the investigation of the tribunal’s prosecutor into the alleged crimes against humanity committed in the course of then President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war on drugs.”

In an eight-page decision issued Monday at The Hague in The Netherlands, the Appeals Chamber said it “rejects the request of the Republic of the Philippines for suspensive effect” of the Pre-Trial Chamber’s decision.”

But to show its impartiality, the ICC also added ex-Vice President Leni Robredo as an additional “person of interest.” This new development stems from Robredo’s video message to the United Nations several years ago in which she accused the Duterte administration of “masterminding extra-judicial killings” and citing what Filipino law enforcement authorities call as “palit ulo” where the wife, husband or relative in a so-called drug list will be taken if the person himself or herself could not be found.”

ICC ordered Robredo to show solid proof and documentation of her allegations.

President Marcos Appoints Rodrigo Duterte As Secretary Of Foreign Affairs!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There have been rumors that President Bongbong Marcos is considering appointing former DILG Secretary and defeated presidential candidate Mar Rox as the new Secretary of Agriculture. But they are just that — rumors.

What’s not a rumor is that Marcos has decided to appoint former President Rodrigo Duterte as the new Secretary of Foreign Affairs. The Adobo Chronicles has learned that Marcos will make Duterte’s appointment formally during his State of the National Address (SONA) next week.

But Duterte is not waiting for his official appointment. We went right to work, visiting Beijing and meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Now that’s what you call “proactive!”
