MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A random poll conducted by The Adobo Chronicles showed that most Filipinos are “concerned” about the appointment of Teddy Boy Locsin, Jr. as President Bongbong Marcos’ special envoy to China.
Asked to elaborate on their poll responses, the respondents said it is concerning that Locsin holds a portfolio as “special envoy for special concerns.” They said the title is not only redundant (SPECIAL envoy for SPECIAL concerns), but it could be abused by Locsin by dipping his finger on anything and everything about Philippines-China relations.
One Filipino we talked to asked: “What exactly are these special concerns?”
PASIG CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Pasig Bureau) -So, it turns out that “The Victor” statue in Pasig which is being touted as taller than the Statue of Liberty (minus the pedestal) may not even be the tallest statue in the Philippines.
The Mother of All Asia–Tower of Peace in Batangas City stands at 98.15 meters as opposed to The Victor’s 55 meters. It is located at the center of the eight-hectare pilgrimage site called Montemaria International Pilgrimage & Conference Center in Sitio Montemaria, Barangay Pagkilatan, Batangas City, Philippines.
The question is, how tall is the Virgin statue really without the building it’s standing on?

AYUNGIN SHOAL, South China Sea (The Adobo Chronicles, Aquatic Bureau) – While former President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to jet-ski to the South China Sea remained just that — a plan, Senator Manny Pacquiao has actually walked his talk.
Pacquiao not only jet-skied to the disputed territory — he actually stayed overnight at BRP Sierra Madre, the Philippine Coast Guard ship now anchored at Ayungin Shoal.
The Adobo Chronicles’ senior geopolitics correspondent Brian Neyra snapped a photo of a shirtless Pacquiao peeking from one of the ship’s dilapidated windows.
The senator told AC that it is his way of showing his patriotism and his full support for the Philippines’ claim on disputed territory with China.
