When Courtesy Is Met With Sour-Graping

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Sour-graping is defined as exhibiting a negative attitude to something because they cannot have it themselves.

Philippine President Bongbong Marcos was being presidential when he extended an invitation to ex-Vice President Leni Robredo to attend his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) next week.

But Marcos’ courtesy was met with sour-graping by the one whom he defeated by a landslide in the 2022 presidential elections. Robredo declined the invitation.

“Thanks, but no thanks,” she seemed to say.

Or was it just “No” (without the thanks)?

Some people are gracious in defeat. Others are just defeated.

President Marcos Appoints Rodrigo Duterte As Secretary Of Foreign Affairs!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There have been rumors that President Bongbong Marcos is considering appointing former DILG Secretary and defeated presidential candidate Mar Rox as the new Secretary of Agriculture. But they are just that — rumors.

What’s not a rumor is that Marcos has decided to appoint former President Rodrigo Duterte as the new Secretary of Foreign Affairs. The Adobo Chronicles has learned that Marcos will make Duterte’s appointment formally during his State of the National Address (SONA) next week.

But Duterte is not waiting for his official appointment. We went right to work, visiting Beijing and meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Now that’s what you call “proactive!”

Xi Jinping Meets With The Wrong Philippine President!

BEIJING, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Hong Kong Bureau) – China’s Xi Jinping met with the President of the Philippines for the nth time today.

Problem is, the Chinese president’s confidants failed to inform him that the Philippines held a presidential election in 2022 and that his good friend Rodrigo Duterte is now just a private citizen.

Interestingly, Xi also thought that Duterte’s daughter Sara is now vice president.

“Congratulations. It’s great that your vice president is also you daughter,” Xi told Duterte. “Long live dynasty,” he said.
