VP Leni Robredo Offered A Position At Duterte’s Kitchen

IMG_7404.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Less than 24 hours after Vice President Leni Robredo resigned from her Cabinet post as Housing Czar, she was offered a position at the newly-opened  Duterte’s Kitchen.

Duterte’s Kitchen is a feeding program launched by the Duterte-aligned political party PDP-Laban to feed the poor — adults and children alike– as well to teach them how to read.

Currently, the kitchen is feeding between 5o to  70 children daily during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lugaw is usually served for breakfast.

(During the campaign, Robredo said that her campaign funds came from various fundraising events held on her behalf, including lugawan, or stores that sell lugaw or rice porridge).

Noting Robredo’s expertise in cooking lugaw, PDP-Laban said that now that her time has been freed up from Cabinet duties, she can be a big asset to the feeding program.

The vice president has not officially responded to the offer as of press time.

img_7394MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Now that Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo has been removed from the official family of President Rodrigo Duterte, she is back in the waiting room.

This was her statement before a Filipino American audience shortly after she assumed the vice presidency:

Lost In Translation: Philippines’ VP Leni Robredo Resigning Or Fired?

img_7394MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday said she was quitting her post as President Rodrigo Duterte’s housing chief on Monday, December 5.

In a statement released by her office late Sunday, Robredo said her resignation was prompted by Duterte’s order for her “to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting this Monday, December 5.”

The order was given through a text message sent by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr, who in turn was relaying instructions given by Duterte through Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.

This seems to be a case of ‘lost in translation.’

Before she announced her resignation, she was asked not to attend all Cabinet meetings which is tantamount to being fired.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles that beginning Monday, she can focus on her modeling career, gracing the covers of fashion magazines.
