MMDA: Out-of-Touch, Out-of-Mind

In the dazzling world of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), where reality takes a back seat and common sense is a rare commodity, the recent nation-wide jeepney strike is but a minor inconvenience. As the masses grapple with the nightmare of a transport standstill, MMDA technocrats gleefully cling to their beloved coding policy, ensuring that the city’s thoroughfares remain as empty as their understanding of the commuting public’s plight.

One can almost picture these officials, sipping on their designer coffee in their luxurious ivory towers, blissfully unaware of the chaos below. Who needs public transportation when you can revel in the glory of deserted streets? The struggle of citizens trying to reach school, work, or any semblance of a life is a trivial detail lost in the grandeur of their out-of-touch policies.

Perhaps a stroke of genius would be for MMDA officials to graciously lend their expensive cars to stranded commuters. After all, navigating the treacherous waters of public transportation builds character, right? It’s time for the MMDA to step out of their fantasy world and into the reality where the rest of us reside.

Senators Wielding Taxpayer Money For Personal Vendetta

In illustrious theater of political absurdity, senators seem to have discovered a new form of legislative performance art: the budgetary vendetta.

Take Senator Bong Revilla, who, apparently triggered by a mere traffic violation accusation, threatened to snatch the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s budget faster than an MMDA officer can issue a jaywalking ticket. It seems the senator has a unique interpretation of checks and balances – more like “checks if I don’t like you, balances if I do.”

Not to be outdone, Senator Jinggoy Estrada has donned the cap of a fiscal executioner, wielding the budgetary guillotine with reckless abandon. His latest masterpiece involves slashing the entire Commission on Human Rights budget because they dared challenge his stance on abortion.

Nothing says democracy like holding an agency hostage until it aligns with your personal ideology.

In this riveting saga of political theatrics, it appears that wielding budget power has become the preferred weapon of choice for settling personal scores. Who needs reasoned debate when you can simply threaten an agency’s financial lifeline? It’s a brave new world of legislative pettiness and power plays, where vendettas come with a taxpayer-funded price tag.

MMDA Once Again Shows Its Elitism!

In a groundbreaking move that showcases the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) commitment to creative traffic solutions, they’ve ingeniously decided to transform the EDSA bus carousel into a VIP lane for top government officials.

One might ponder, what exactly qualifies as a “top official”? Perhaps it’s a hierarchy based on who has the fanciest government-issue pens or the shiniest official seals.

While commoners grapple with the joy of squeezing into overcrowded buses, our esteemed leaders can now enjoy a leisurely drive down the exclusive EDSA VIP lane.

Why bother with the banalities of public transportation when one can effortlessly glide through the city in a helicopter or soar on the Skyway? It’s a stroke of genius – inconveniencing the masses to remind them of their place while our distinguished officials relish in their traffic-free escapades.

The MMDA’s bold move is undoubtedly a masterclass in governance – after all, nothing says “public service” like a convoy of government vehicles racing past the common folk stuck in traffic.
