MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – On the eve of the historic Supreme Court vote on the Quo Warranto case against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, former President NoyNoy Aquino and several lawmakers called for the rule of law, and not the rule of men.
In a statement signed by Aquino, Senators Francis Pangilinan, Bam Aquino and Leila De Lima — among others — the group said that the 50% shading of ballots is the rule of law and that Leni Robredo should abide by it.
At issue is the Vice President’s petition before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) to credit ballots cast for her that were only about 25% shaded. Ironically, Bam Aquino supports Robredo and has created a social media hashtag #LeaveOurShadesAlone.
This is the first time that NoyNoy and the Opposition lawmakers have publicly chastised the Vice President.
All for the sake of the rule of law.
QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo came to the defense of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, criticizing efforts to oust the latter through the quo warranto case now pending in the Supreme Court.
