Smile, Madam Vice President, You’re On Candid Camera

B8AC6ACA-3B50-40B4-9234-2441EE0C943BQUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – While Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada was singing his heart out, Vice President Leni Robredo was caught on camera red-faced, groping for the lyrics of the Philippine National Anthem.

This happened at yesterday’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, Robredo announced she was attending the SONA and was ready to be insulted by Duterte.

Well, she didn’t need the President.  She did it to herself.

Bongbong Marcos, Leni Robredo Agree To Out-Of-Court Settlement Of The VP Electoral Protest

F3ED0DE3-47F0-475C-816B-20DFCF652E3A.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the interest of national unity and reconciliation, Bongbong Marcos and Leni Robredo have agreed on an out-of-court settlement of the former Senator’s electoral protest in connection with the 2016 Vice Presidential Elections.

Instead of pursuing the ballot recount, Marcos and Robredo have signed an agreement that they will equally share the six-year term of the position of Vice President.

According to the signed agreement, Robredo will serve three of the six-year term while Marcos will serve the remaining three.

So Robredo will be Vice President until June 30 of 2019 while Marcos will be VP from then until 2022.

The Presidential Electoral Tribunal, acting as the Supreme Court, has unanimously approved the agreeement.

All’s well that ends well.

On The Eve Of Duterte’s SONA, Philippines’ Inflation Rate Drops To Historical Low

C68D6923-4E88-4A87-BD15-8EBFD6254E9CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Rodrigo Duterte will have a news headline when he delivers his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.  The Philippines’ inflation rate has just dropped from 5.2% to 0.1%!

The good news was announced by the Central Bank of the Philippines in a hastily-called press conference at the Manila Peninsula Hotel.

Central Bank Governor Nestor Espenilla, Jr. said that the primary factor that led to the decline of the inflation rate was the sudden influx of cash in the National Capital Region (NCR).  This, in turn, resulted in greater demand for goods and services and increase in overall market productivity.

Thanks to the organizers of the anti-SONA rallies for handing out cash — as much as P10,000 each — to those who agreed to attend tomorrow’s mass protests.

To avail of the P10,000 payment, one must sign a notarized statement of intention to appear at the rallies.  Fifty percent of the payment is payable upon submission of the statement and the other half is payable upon submission of a selfie photo showing the rallyist at the protest venue.

The State of the Nation is strong!
