Whoa! Did You Know Scarlett Johansson Was Quarter Japanese?

imageHOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – We must commend Hollywood for casting Asian Americans in mainstream films. It is a testament to its commitment to diversity.

Remember “Aloha?” Actress Emma Stone, who is  quarter Hawaiian, was cast opposite Bradley Cooper  in the 2015 Columbia Pictures’ romantic comedy-drama film written, produced and directed by Cameron Crowe.

Now, Dreamworks has chosen quarter Japanese Scarlett Johansson to play the lead role in the iconic 1995 animated Japanese sci-fi film Ghost in the Shell.  The film revolves around Major Motoko Kusanagi, a member of a futuristic security force tasked with tracking a mysterious hacker. The  film is set in Japan, and the major cast members are Japanese.

Like “Aloha,” the Japanese sci-fi film is expected to be a blockbuster! We hope you’ll go see the film on the first week-end of its release nationwide.

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It is THE endorsement that every Philippine presidential and vice presidential candidate has been hoping for. The endorsement from AlDub, the noon-time TV show phenomenon and love team of Alden Richards and Mae Mendoza. With their millions of fans and their tweet world record, such an endorsement could all but determine the next president and vice president.

Well, that time has come. AlDub has officially endorsed Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bongbong Marcos, both of whom have sealed their first-place finish in the latest national polls.

The AlDuB nation — members of the Alyansang Duterte at Bongbong — couldn’t be happier with the latest polls.

Actor Dingdong Dantes Reveals Why He Quit Aquino Administration

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Last week, we reported that popular actor Dingdong Dantes quit his post as Commissioner of the Aquino administration’s National Youth Commission so that he could actively campaign for his chosen bets in the 2016 presidential elections.  It was rumored that the actor was leaning towards campaigning for Senator Grace Poe, and not Aquino’s anointed presidential candidate Mar Roxas.

Today, Dantes made it official.  He announced that he was endorsing, and campaigning for, Poe for president and Leni Robredo for vice president. Poe is running as an independent while Robredo is the VP bet for Aquino’s Liberal Party.

“I have the highest respect and admiration for these two women,” Dantes said, “and I think that it is about time our country is ruled by two strong women — president and vice president both. The Philippines has always been a matriarchal society and I believe that having women lead the nation will be the only way that we can solve our problems — from poverty to corruption.”

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach Aquino for his reaction, but Malacañang said the president was still indisposed because of his flu.
