MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – As if the series of persona non grata declarations from Local Government Units, and law suits from religious groups were not enough, the Philippines’ Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a separate criminal case against drag artist Pura Luka Vega.
It all stemmed from Vega’s video taped performance where he dressed like Jesus Christ and sang to a rock version of “Ama Namin” (The Lord’s Prayer).
DOJ told The Adobo Chronicles that Vega is being charged as a drag lord and accused for other unbailable offenses.
PASIG CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Pasig City Bureau) – The newly-erected “The Victor” in Pasig City, said to be taller than the Statue of Liberty, is actually a statue of the late former Senator Ninoy Aquino.
The final artwork was unveiled on the eve of Ninoy Aquino Day which commemorates his assassination 40 years ago.
Ninoy’s image, however, is only visible through a special magnifier lens camera similar to one owned by The Adobo Chronicles’ Jake Don.
TOKYO, Japan (The Adobo Chronicles, Tokyo Bureau) – Although tattoos are not outlawed in Japan, many sectors and individuals still frown on this age-old art form.
Case in point: A Japanese employment firm is seeking Filipino farmers, offering an attractive salary of P66,591 per month. However, the job announcement was crystal clear that tattooed people need not apply!
Adobo Chronicles questions:
Do tattoos contaminate agricultural crops, or do tattooed farmers produce less?
