Donald Trump Tries To Win Back Hispanic Vote, Eats A Bowl Of Tacos

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Just a day after both his remaining rivals for the Republican presidential nomination quit the race, Donald Trump wasted no time in trying to win back the Hispanic vote — a crucial voting bloc that would greatly matter in the general elections.

Many will recall that when Trump launched his presidential bid, he promised to build a great wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico.  In his campaign launch speech, he also called Mexicans “rapists” and “criminals.”

But realizing he can’t win in the general elections without the Hispanic vote, Trump spent his lunch time on Cinco de Mayo eating a bowl of tacos.  In a post on his social media account, he said that he “loves Hispanics.”

Sources close to Trump, however, and who spoke on condition of anonimity, said that immediately after the photo opp, Trump ordered a Mexican server at the penthouse suite of his Trump Towers in New York to remove the bowl of tacos and replace it with a half-pound New York steak, complete with garlic and butter mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus.

The Adobo Chronicles confirmed that Trump’s steak was medium-rare.

Miriam Defensor Santiago Excluded From Public Service Political Ad

Santiago: furious

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A non-partisan public service political ad now airing on Philippine television has made presidential candidate Miriam Defensor-Santiago very furious because she was excluded.

The TV ad, featuring young children, questions the qualifications of the candidates running for president, except that only four of the five candidates were mentioned.

In the ad, the children mention the candidates without naming them:  magnanakaw (thief), kupitero (snatcher), mamamatay-tao (murderer) and di-handa (unprepared).

Santiago complained that she was unfairly excluded from the ad.  Only Vice President Jojo Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Grace Poe, and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas were included.

“Just because I am No. 5 in the pre-election polls and surveys, they have deliberately dropped me from the TV ad altogether.  It’s not fair,” Santiago said.

The TV ad was paid for by ACS Manufacturing Corporation and Pride detergent.

Donald Trump Guest At Mayor Duterte’s Final Campaign Rally

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the Philippines, it’s called “Miting de Avance,” or the last and final campaign rally of candidates running for elective posts.

By law, candidates are prohibited from further campaigning the day before, and the day of the elections which is on Monday, May 9.

The camp of Davao City Mayor and presidential candidate frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte will hold its miting de avance at the Burnham Green section of the Rizal National Park from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The Duterte campaign announced today that U.S. Republican presidential presumptive nominee Donald Trump will be attending the rally as a very special guest.

Duterte has often been called the Donald Trump of the Philippines. Both men have changed the tone of political campaigning, often delivering statements and speeches that are both controversial and radical by normal standards.

Trump had been wanting to personally meet Duterte but  was kept at bay by his rigorous campaigning in the U.S. primaries.  But now that both of Trump’s remaining opponents have quit the race, he says that he now has the time to take a much-needed break and fly to Manila to meet Duterte.

“If we will both be world leaders, we might as well start hanging out with each other now,” Trump said.

Trump is also rumored to be exploring the possibility of building what could be the world’s tallest Trump Tower in Makati City, bailiwick of another presidential candidate, VP Jejomar Binay.
