QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She’s is known as the Philippines’  “Queen of all Media,” and, in the last six years, the “presidential sister.” On several occasions,  she represented her brother in welcoming and entertaining visiting foreign dignitaries, including Pope Francis and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

As President NoyNoy Aquino prepares to step down and give way to the new Rodrigo Duterte administration, The Adobo Chronicles sat down once last time with Kris to get her personal feelings about her brother’s presidency.

We asked her what her biggest regret was about the last 6 years while NoyNoy occupied Malacañang, the presidential palace.

The spotlight-loving actress and TV host said, “My biggest regret was that my brother did not make me the First Lady. (NoyNoy is a bachelor)

Kris  became very emotional during the interview, when we told her that President-elect Duterte has picked his daughter Sara, newly-elected mayor of Davao City, as his First Lady.

“Oh, see, puwede pala iyon (See, it can be done),” Kris said, wiping tears from her eyes.

We empathize with Ms. Aquino and wish her the best of luck, post-NoyNoy.

Rodrigo Duterte and daughter Sara

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When President Aquino turns over the reins of government to the newly-elected administration of Rodrigo Duterte, there will be not one, but two mayors who will occupy Malacañang, the presidential palace.

Duterte had already announced that his daughter Sara will become the country’s First Lady (Duterte is separated from his wife and is known to be living with two “wives” and two girlfriends.). But Sara has also just been elected mayor of Davao City.  That’s one mayor in Malacañang.

The other mayor?  Rod Duterte himself.image

Although he will be sworn in as president, Duterte wants to be called mayor. He made that clear during a recent interview.  “Let the word spread,” he said.

This will be the first time in Philippine history that an elected vice president will be reporting to a mayor.

L-R: Brewer, Palin, Bachmann, Coulter

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Faced with the possibility of running against two women in November’s U.S. presidential elections, presumptive Republican nominee has come up with a short list of potential VP running mates and is asking the American voters to help him decide.

Trump needs to win the powerful women’s vote in order to counter the competition with Hillary Clinton and her rumored VP pick, Senator Elizabeth Warren. So, his short list is composed of all women:

  • Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin
  • Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer
  • Former Minesotta Representative Michele Bachmann
  • Conservative columnist and author Ann Coulter

As part of our civic duty, we at The Adobo Chronicles, have decided to help Trump decide on his VP running mate.
