SONA: PBBM To Designate Leni Robredo VP For The Day?

In the high drama of Philippine politics, President Bongbong Marcos’ third State of the Nation Address (SONA) has taken a turn for the theatrical.

With Vice President Sara Duterte declaring she’ll be a no-show, speculation has reached fever pitch about who will be the designated VP for the day. All leads point to none other than Leni Robredo. Yes, the same Robredo who dutifully attended her arch-rival Duterte’s SONAs, both in-person and via Zoom, might just find herself back in the vice-presidential spotlight.

Political analysts are scratching their heads at Sara’s self-appointment as the “designated survivor,” pointing out that this role has no legal basis. Traditionally, the president appoints a cabinet member as the survivor, but with Sara no longer in the cabinet, it’s a moot point.

So, in a twist of fate, Marcos might just revive Robredo’s vice-presidential duties for a day.

Now, talk about a true “UniTeam!”
