Some 7,000 runners are participating in today’s launch of “Takbo WPS,” a fun run aimed at showing Filipino unity and cooperation for the defense of the country’s sovereignty.

All proceeds from the WPS Run will go to the “West Philippine Sea educational campaign.”

Similar runs will be held in other cities.

But is “Takbo WPS” a double entendre that pokes fun at the anti-administration, pro-China stance of some Filipinos? Could it be a subtle suggestion for them to run (or jet ski) to the West Philippine Sea to defend China’s interests in the disputed territory?
