Barangay/SK Election Campaign In Full Swing; Leni Robredo Campaigns in Camarines Sur!

NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Naga Bureau) – With close to 400,000 positions at stake, the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election campaign went into full gear as of Friday.

Voters will choose their local leaders on October 30.

In Camarines Sur, former Vice President Leni Robredo launched her own campaign for the position of Kagawad (council member) in her local Barangay Carangcang.

Robredo had resisted calls for her to run for the Senate in 2025 or to try her luck again in the 2028 presidential elections.

“Power emanates from the people,” Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles, “and no voice is more powerful than the voice of ordinary people in our neighborhoods. It will be a distinct privilege for me to represent my barangay. Kailangan natin bumaba sa baba.”

Leni Robredo To Senator Risa Hontiveros: “Thanks, but no thanks!”

NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Naga Bureau) – It was a well-meaning wish for Senator Risa Hontiveros for former Vice President Leni Robredo to run for senator in 2025. That would at least increase the Opposition in the upper chamber to two.

But Robredo knows exactly what she wants and more importantly, what she’s capable of. So instead, she’s running for Kagawad in her local Barangay — Carangcang in Camarines Sur.

And we support her for her noble and patriotic decision!
