Professor Clarita Carlos To Dept. Of Tourism: Change Your Branding!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The recently-unveiled new tourism slogan, “Love the Philippines” has received many negative reactions from Filipinos. The new branding replaces “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”

But many, including former National Security Advisor Professor Clarita Carlos, think that the new slogan doesn’t have a “ring” to it. Some say its akin to reviving the Hippie movement of love, peace and drugs in the 1960’s.

With that in mind, Carlos proposed an alternative tourism slogan that is more catchy and in keeping with the modern times: “Philippines, You Rock!”

Mas malutong” (it’s more crisp), Carlos said of her suggested branding.

We couldn’t agree more!

Did Ex-Comelec Chair Andy Bautista Sneak Back Into The Country?

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Social media is abuzz about an American C130 plane that landed recently at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Many wondered if the plane carried Afghan refugees whom the U.S. wanted the Philippines to host temporarily.

Now it can be told.

No Afghan refugees. Just ex-Comelec Chair Andy Bautista!

Bautista has a pending warrant of arrest issued against him in connection with a Senate investigation on his alleged unexplained wealth. He sneaked out of the country and was reportedly in hiding in San Francisco or some other place in the U.S.

But Bautista misses the Philippines, and to return legally would pose challenges in terms of his travel documentation and possible arrest upon arrival in the country.

So the next best thing is to sneak back into the country with the help of the U.S., through a C130 plane.

We wonder if FilAm millionaire and Leni Robredo supporter Loida Nicolas helped facilitate the transport of Bautista.

This is a developing story.

Philippines’ Department of Tourism Reconsiders, Unveils New Branding!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – After receiving a lot of flak for its re-branded tourism slogan (‘Love the Philippines’) , the Department of Tourism withdrew the new design and replaced it with a more appropriate messaging.

The re-issued slogan takes its cue from the popular noon-time TV show, ‘EAT BULAGA,’ and highlights both the country’s exquisite cuisine and the amazing beauty of its natural sites and resources.

Be fed! Be surprised! EAT BULAGA!
