EDCA Put to Test As Chinese Navy Ship Heads to Philippines!

MANILA, Bureau( The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A Chinese navy vessel is headed to the Philippines! The Adobo Chronicles has learned that the ship is expected to reach Manila by June 14.

The Philippine Coast Guard, fresh from training and war exercises alongside U.S military forces in the Pacific, said it is ready for China as soon as its Navy vessel crosses into Philippine territorial waters.

This will be the first major test on how effective EDCA, or the Enhanced Defense Cooperative Agreement is. Under this agreement, the U.S. has vowed to defend the Philippines if it is attacked by a y foreign country.

The Philippines is involved in territorial conflicts with China and other Southeast Asian nations over areas in the South China Sea which the Philippine government insists on calling “ West Philippine Sea.”

As Mayon Volcano Eruption Looms, Leni Robredo ‘Is Monitoring!’

NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Naga Bureau) – She’s always the first on the ground during typhoons, floods, earthquakes and other natural calamities. Or so she claimed during the 2022 Presidential election campaign.

Ex-Vice President Leni Robredo has promised to set up the country’s largest volunteer network precisely to respond to such disasters through her pet peeve, err, pet project — Angat Buhay.

As a potentially devastating eruption looms for the world’ most perfect cone volcano — Mayon — Robredo has resurrected from months of Hadouken, as well as her globe-trotting to pose for those fantasy photos of mythical, historical characters.

Yesterday, she proudly announced that she and her group are “monitoring” the situation in and around the volcano, ready perhaps to distribute relief goods and services that have already been pre-positioned there by Social Welfare and other departments of government.

Reliable sources tell The Adobo Chroniclers that Robredo’s PR team is ready any time to dispatch paid staff and volunteers to shoot in affected Barangays.

No, not shoot guns. Photos and Videos. You know, the proverbial Photo Opps.

‘Celebrity’ Vloggers Among Flunkers in the March 2023 Civil Service Exams!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chroniclers, Manila Bureau) – Given their loud noise about all things government in the Philippines, ‘celebrity’ vloggers were expected to be in the Top 10 passers of the March 2023 Civil Service Exams — the ticket to the juiciest positions in the current Administration. Well, at least be among the pathetic number of those who successfully hurdled the much-pursued government service eligibility.

A total of 64,420 out of 403,567 (15.96%)successfully hurdled the March 2023 CSE-PPT – 54,478 passed the Professional Level while 9,942 passed the subprofessional level exams.

But alas, the vloggers who had aspired to be appointed to influential Administration plantilla positions, all but flunked, among them Bb. Maharlika, Pinoy Ako Blog (Jover Laurio), Raissa Robles, Ping Ping Tweets (whatever her real name is), Rappler’s JC Punongbayan, Rambo Talambong, Pia Rañada and Lian Buan, the returning Jam Magno, and many others.

Meanwhile, The Adobo Chronicles is proud to announce that among the Top 10 passers were AC’s senior geopolitics correspondent Brian Neyra, and Social Media Director Jake Don.

Our publisher, Rene Astudillo, graphics director Orman Manansala, and all-around, everywhere correspondent Melchor Vergara, are already Civil Service eligible.
