MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It was a hell of day for account holders with GCash, the popular online portal for financial transactions in the Philippines.
Many have complained about unauthorized cash in and cash out, with some saying that their cash was diminished to the point of zero balance.
But not all experienced the negative effects of the computer problem.
Some netizens posted screen shots of their GCash accounts, showing that their peso balances have been converted to U.S. dollars and British pounds.
GCash has launched an investigation into this suspicious account status.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau)- There have been a lot frayed nerves in the last 12 hours as hundreds of thousands of Filipinos found their GCash accounts empty, or full!
What may have been a computer glitch disrupted many businesses and personal bill payments as the online account portal tried to remedy the situation.
But not everyone is angry at GCash.
One netizen noticed not only a huge spike in his GCash funds. The funds were in U.S. dollars!!!
It wasn’t clear whether the disruption in GCash transactions was a result of human error or AI (Artificial Intelligence)
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It doesn’t pay to venture into an issue where you do not have the credentials or expertise. It could come back to you as a slap on the face.
This was the painful and embarrassing lesson learned by self-proclaimed investigative writer and certified Marites Raissa Robles.
In a tweet, Robles critiqued the Filipina dress worn by Philippine First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at King Charles’ coronation in London last week. Robles accused the First Lady of “raiding” (synonym: shoplifting ) her mother-in-law Imelda’s closet.
Just hours later, a well-credentialed British newspaper named the Philippine First Lady one of the 52 most fashionable personalities at the coronation.
Robles could be better off dusting unsold copies of her book and sending her resume to gossip tabloids.
