Another WPS Brewing In Pangasinan!

ANDA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Bolinao Bureau) – Soon, there may be two WPS in the territorial waters of the Philippines.

The first, as we all know it, is that part of the South China Sea that former President NoyNoy Aquino renamed West Philippine Sea by virtue of an administrative order issued in 2012. It was a move to bolster the country’s territorial claim which involves China and other Southeast Asian nations.

Now, residents of the western municipality of Anda in the Philippine province of Pangasinan, along with other nearby municipalities, want their own WPS!

Residents told The Adobo Chronicles that they want the Caguiputan Strait which runs through several municipalities near the South China Sea to be renamed West Pangasinan Strait (WPS).

They have sent a petition to President Bongbong Marcos to issue an administrative order to that effect, just like what PNoy did in renaming parts of the South China Sea to WPS.

Leni Robredo’s Microphone Turned Off At Asian Leadership Conference In Korea!

SEOUL, South Korea (The Adobo Chronicles, Seoul Burea) – The organizers of the 2023 Asian Leadership Conference held in Seoul, South Korea on May 17-18 thought they hit a jackpot when Atty. Leni Robredo agreed to be one of their speakers — their token woman on their list.

The conference, featuring “have-been” (former) world leaders had for its theme, “The Era of Upheaval: The Road To Collaboration and Innovation.”

But just minutes into Robredo’s speech, organizers decided to turn off her microphone because she didn’t live up to the hype of being a collaborator and innovator.

The ex-Philippine Vice President insisted on talking about the divisive politics and campaigning she and her ilks pursued during her country’s 2022 national elections which she lost by a landslide. She also started talking about her “innovative” campaign gimmicks, particularly doing a series of Hadouken and Karate Master promos to promote her candidacy.

Organizers told The Adobo Chronicles Robredo did not fulfill her part of the speaker agreement to focus on the conference theme. They also said they weren’t aware that Robredo had not officially conceded her defeat which goes against the collaboration theme of the conference.

A lesson learned.

FACT CHECK: “West Philippine Sea” Is An Invention Of Ex-President Noynoy Aquino.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A cursory scan of world maps reveals that “West Philippine Sea” is non existent. It is an invention of the late Philippine President Noynoy Aquino.

Traditional maps have always identified the waters as “South China Sea,” even in documents relating to the territorial disputes involving China and other Southeast Asian Nations.

It appears that “West Philippine Sea” is an invention of of Aquino when he unilaterally renamed portions of the South China Sea to fit his country’s territorial claims.

Specifically, Administrative Order No. 29, released in 2012 by Aquino officially named the “maritime areas on the western side of the Philippine archipelago” as West Philippine Sea.

Is this a case of territorial claim by presidential directive?
