QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – After seven long years, “Ang Probinsyano’s” Kardo (Coco Martin) is finally moving to the city!
Martin will now play the role of “Batang Quiapo” in a new TV series airing soon.
Will it take another seven years?
A lot can happen within that time, especially in Manila, described by author Nick Joaquin (Quijano de Manila) as “Sin City.”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. has approved the importation of 21,000 metric tons of onions, as recommended by the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture.
The move is aimed at addressing the shortage and rising costs of onions in the country.
Importers are being asked to immediately submit their import application to DA in order to ensure the onions’ timely arrival.
The onions will be imported from the United States through a designated New York-based company, French’s.
French’s is an American brand of prepared condiments and other food items, including the extremely popular French’s fried onions. It is owned by McCormick & Company.
The Adobo Chronicles reached out to DA Assistant Secretary Rex Estoperez and asked him how many cans of French’s Crispy Fried Onions will make up the 21,000 metric tons. Each can contains about 170 grams. He said DA statisticians are still in the process of calculating that final number.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Lolo Kardo can never figure out what “LOL” (Laughing Out Loud) means. Or “LMAO” (Laughing My *ss Off). Or “ICYMI” (In case you missed it). And Meta is very concerned.
Senior citizens comprise a significant portion of Facebook’s current or potential customers, and so it is taking a radical approach to herd them in and to make sure they can navigate the social media platform in a breeze.
Today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launching of the first ever Facebook for Seniors in the Philippines where it is estimated that senior citizens account for 12% of the country’s total population.
The new senior portal promises to be more user-friendly, less technical and a lot of fun for those aged 60 and above.
Zuckerberg however said that Meta does not discriminate based on age, so anyone — regardless of how old they are — are welcome to switch their FB accounts to the new senior level.
Meta also announced that is partnering with a music production company to adopt a theme song for the new FB portal. The song — a tribute to all senior citizens — is titled “SINYOR: Hindi Lahat Magkakaedad,” and is now available on all digital platforms, YouTube and physical CDs (through JoyofM.com).
