MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ senior citizens now comprise more than 10 percent of the total population — 10 million to be exact.
But things could abruptly change beginning in 2021 when live births could exceed the senior population.
The reason? The community quarantine imposed by the government due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It’s been nine months since the community quarantine was first imposed in Luzon and eventually nationwide, because of Covid-19.
It’s that time when live births are due — babies conceived at the beginning of the quarantine.
We’ll just have to wait for the actual live birth numbers this month.
