MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG) is known to be quite generous in recognizing the accomplishments of its officials and personnel as well as good-performing LGUs.
Today, DILG announced it was honoring its own Undersecretary, Martin Diño, for exemplary performance in his relatively short stint as the No. 2 man at the agency. It is adding his name to its prestigious “Hall of Shame.”
The recognition cites two main reasons for awarding Diño with this great honor:
1. His previous statement to the press that human rights are suspended in a state of calamity, and
2. His most recent suggestion that Covid-19 patients be publicly shamed.
”These bold public statements by Diño shows his courage in challenging even the most sensitive issues and policies of our government, something that we seldom see among officials of the administration, “ DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said.
