Duterte Orders Closure of Baguio City For Six Months

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – President Rodrigo Duterte has had it with Baguio City’s evironmental and other problems. He has ordered the closure of the Philippines’ Summer Capital for six months.

This after the Department  of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced on Saturday, June 29, that it has ordered the closure of the Irisan open dumpsite in Baguio City. This has prompted garbage collectors to  inform city residents that they will no longer be collecting biodegradable trash.

”I cannot allow the site of my (Presidential)  Summer Mansion House to be in a stinking city,” Duterte said.

Duterte had previously closed Boracay island for rehabilition, with great success. He expects to do the same for Baguio.
