MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She was the darling of the press, especially among the Yellows and critics of President Rodrigo Duterte. For what could be a juicier news report than a very bright, outspoken and committed vanguard of press freedom being criminally charged and arrested multiple times?
But alas, all things must come to an end.
Rappler CEO Maria Ressa told The Adobo Chronicles that she is very disappointed at the public fascination and attention given to retired entertainer and Duterte critic Jim Paredes’ viral sex video.
”The press and the people have forgotten about me and my press freedom crusade. Jim has taken the spotlight away from me,” she said.
“Jim has also made Rappler’s hard-hitting news stories and investigative reporting seem pale and irrelevant compared to his juicy video,” Ressa added
