MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Sometimes you bite the hand that feeds you. At other times, you sue the publication that honors you.
Such is the case with Rappler CEO Maria Ressa who is among TIME’s 2018 “Persons of the Year.” She is now suing the magazine for using an unimpressive, nay, offensive photo of her on the cover.
Unlike the three other covers, the one that honors Ressa depicts her as the devil — complete with red horns (see photo with our annotation). She accused TIME of spreading a subliminal message that she is evil.
Ressa told The Adobo Chronicles that she suspects the magazine’s graphic artist is a closet DDS (Duterte Die-hard Supporter).
We tried to reach the editors at TIME for comment but they have not responded as of press time.
