MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Julian Felipe and Jose Palma, composer and lyricist, respectively, of the Philippine National Anthem must be turning in their graves.

First, Senate President Tito Sotto wants to change the last line of the anthem from “ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo” to “ang ipaglaban ang kalayaan mo.”

Now, incarcerated Senator Leila de Lima has joined in the fray.

She wants to change the last line of the anthem instead to “ang makulong ng dahil shabu.”
