MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Faced with the prospect that her victory in the 2016 Vice Presidential Elections will all but be reversed, Leni Robredo petitioned the Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribution (PET) to reconsider the latter’s decision to invalidate ballots that were not at least 50% shaded.
In her petition, Robredo said that PET should consider those ballots that were at least 25% shaded, arguing that this was the threshold earlier established by the Commission on Elections.
The invalidated ballots, among other things, had caused Robredo’s lead over Bongbong Marcos to narrow down by 5,000 votes.
But in a ruling just issued by PET, the petition is deemed practically moot and academic, considering that all the contested ballots in favor of Robredo were shaded just 24.99%.
