QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – During the recent Senate hearing on NFA’s depleted rice stocks, Senator Kiko Pangilinan kept on asking, “Where’s the affordable NFA rice?”
There is no rice shortage in the country. However, commercial rice has been selling at a high price in the market. NFA’s recommendation to import rice to boost its supply has been denied by the independent NFA council headed by Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco.
An investigation by The Adobo Chronicles found that the ‘missing’ NFA rice had been diverted to 25 Times Street in Quezon City, the private residence of former President NoyNoy Aquino.
Apparently, the sacks of NFA rice were used to barricade Aquino’s residence as part of his security plan.
Mystery solved, Senator Pangilinan! Now go back to your real job of legislation.
