MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Chito Gascon of the Philippines Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has finally broken his silence on the recent police raid in Ozamiz City which led to the deaths of suspected drug lord Mayor Parojinog, his wife and others, as well as the arrest of daughter and Vice Mayor Nova.

The warrants of arrest were served at dawn.

The CHR Commissioner told The Adobo Chronicles that the dawn raid was a clear violation of human rights.

“Eating and sleeping are the most basic of human rights” Gascon said. ‘The dawn raid deprived the suspected criminals of their right to a full 8 hours of sleep. The police should have waited for sunrise to serve the warrants.”

You can really count on CHR to protect your human rights.

Earlier, Senator Franklin Drilon also questioned the serving of the warrants at dawn.
