MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the week leading up to Mother’s Day, Facebook users were surprised to see a new emoticon that they could use to respond or react to posts.
The new emoticon is a purple flower which is supposed to convey the emotion of being thankful.
In the Philippines 🇵🇭, in addition to the purple flower, Facebook has included a second new emoticon — a graphic image of Vice President Leni Robredo.
Facebook says that Filipinos can use the Robredo emoticon to convey that the post they are reading is “fake” or a “troll.”
Robredo has been labeled FVP (Fake Vice President) by her critics and those who allege that she stole the election from rival Bongbong Marcos.
The VP is also known to have a legion of online supporters — most of them anonymous — engaged in the spreading of fake and biased news or who are true masters of trolls.
