DOH Clarifies Proposed Firecracker Ban

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – What would Christmas and New Year be like without fireworks?  And firecrackers?

The executive order proposing a national firecracker ban may be signed by President Rodrigo Duterte by December 5, Health Sec. Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial noted in a media briefing on Tuesday.

“I hope we can have this executive order out by then. But the President, when I presented it to the Cabinet, said he will be supportive of the regulated use of firecrackers,” Ubial said.

When he was mayor of Davao City, Duterte signed an executive order in 2001 and an ordinance in 2002 that banned firecrackers.

Today, however, the Department of Health (DOH)  clarified that the ban that the secretary recommended to the president had nothing to do with fireworks.  He had proposed banning a spicy shrimp dish that could cause health problems especially for those who are intolerant of hot and spicy food.  It’s also called “firecrackers.”

Also part of the proposed ban is another hot and spicy dish called “dynamite lumpia.”

UNPRECEDENTED: All 50 States Will Recount Election Results To Weed Out Illegal Trump Voters

IMG_7293.PNGWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Be careful what you say on Twitter.  This is a lesson that President-elect Donald Trump is just now learning.

In a tweet yesterday, Trump said that he not only won the electoral college vote by a landslide, but also the popular vote if we “deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.”

Trump’s tweet is an admission that the November 8 presidential elections were rigged in his favor.

Reacting to Trump’s tweet, all 50 states have agreed to audit the election results for the purpose of weeding out illegal votes by Trump supporters.  The states hope to finish the recount before December 19, when the electoral college meet to officially cast their vote.

Nate Silver and other statistics experts predict that after the audit, the official election results will be overturned in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.

Catholic Bishop To Rallyists: Stop Using A Corpse To Advance Your Agenda

IMG_7292.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President Archbishop Socrates Villegas has called on the family of deposed tyrant Ferdinand Marcos to stop using the corpse of their patriarch to advance their ambitions.

Oposing Marcos’ controversial burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Villegas said what the late dictator needed were prayers and not honors.

“And the same is true with the street protesters.  They need to stop using a dead body to advance their various agenda — from being anti-Duterte, pro-De Lima, anti-U.S., being cool.  Most especially, they should not use the Marcos burial issue to protest the Catholic Church’s huge financial investments,” Villegas added.

So if you’re Catholic and you know it, heed the bishops’ call.
