MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – By a vote of 11-4, the Philippine Supreme Court today ordered the immediate release of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The court threw out her plunder case, stemming from the release of over P366 million in Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) intelligence funds from 2008 to 2010.

Until the release order,  Arroyo has been in hospital arrest.

There is no truth to the rumor that the Supreme Court issued the ruling in order to make room for another former president to be in detention.
