CEBU CITY, Philippines – Vice presidential candidate and Camarines Sur 3rd district Representative Leni Robredo said that it would be difficult to work with presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte, the current survey front-runner for president, if he should win.

“I accepted the Liberal Party’s vice presidential nomination because I was assured by President Aquino that Mar Roxas and myself will win as a tandem — as president and vice president, respectively.”

“Duterte and I are the exact opposites and I don’t see working with him even remotely possible.”

With those words, Robredo said that if Duterte becomes president and she is elected vice president, she would resign from her post on the first day in office.

What happens if the office of the vice president is vacant?

According to the 1987 constitution, the next in line to the vice president is the president of the Senate, followed by the speaker of the House of Representatives.

The only way Senator Bongbong Marcos or any of the vice presidential losers can succeed Robredo is for them to become Senate president.

All the vice presidential contenders, except Robredo, are incumbent senators.

  2. Leni can do that or she can stay. If she leaves she will be an effective street parliamentarian. If she stays, she will be a very painful thorn on duterter’s ass.

    Actually Duterte is check mated. He must be the sorriest ass in the country now.

    Why?

    He does not control both houses of Congress. That means he could never push forward his agenda.

    Abolish the Congress? He needs the military to do that and he does not have the AFP’s backing.

    If he makes true of his promises during the campaign, civil society will be after his neck. If he doesn’t the dutertards will be after his neck.

    Meantime the economy is watching his every more. The moment the economy slows down and goes on a slump, everybody will be after him.

    1. @Joseph Dabon, your analysis is shallow. Too much analytics in your statement does not guarantee closer guarantee of its accuracy. Duterte has been with the Policitics (Though it is local) and he thinks so Smart and Spontaneous.
      We can just shut up and don’t base the outlook from how you see it in your perspective.
      Yes, you have the point, but do not underestimate what it takes to be a Duterte. Nobody can replicate what he did to Davao. He is a man of action and does not believe in any theory, like yours and people who always walk backward Mr.

    Hindi naman sinabi ni Robredo na magri-resign sya ah. In-assume lang noong author na magri-resign sya base sa sinabi ni Leni (assuming na sinabi nga).

    Asyumero kayo adobochronicles. Nag-concluge agad kayo kesyo sinabi lang ni robredo na exact opposites sila ni duterte at she doesn;t see working with him even remotely possible.

    1. We reject the notion that Pinoys are gullible. There are as many Filipinos who fully understand what satire is (which is different from hoax news) as there are who may just be a little lazy to read critically and check the sources of what they read.

      Your request for us to take the post down is just like asking ABS-CBN to close down because many people think it’s biased.   21. It only means that she does want to try hard enough to become a leader who can stand firm besides another leader who has the capability to stand firm in the midst of a lot of critics. In other words, she does not have the heart of a leader because a leader never cares who is his/ her partner, a leader only cares about the people he/ she wish to serve.

  22. It is very disappointing that Leni would immediately resign should she win the election for vice-president. She probably does not realize that when she ran for that post she already made a commitment to serve the people who elected her. There is a saying that the “Will of the people is the Will of God.” It would be a let down for her deceased husband who lost his life in the service of the people. She is not herself upon winning this election. She is a servant of the people and her resigning would be the height of selfishness and the sign of a bloated ego. Duterte had shown how to serve his constituent well. Leni would be better advised if she showed willingness to learn from Duterte. Otherwise, she will remain just a wall flower who will soon wilt in the darkness of her selfishness. Am 76 years old and my advise to her is serve the people like your husband did.
