LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – A coalition of protesters briefly took over the Trump Towers in Las Vegas on Christmas eve, unfurling a huge banner from the building’s penthouse that had a ‘thumbs down’ sign to indicate disapproval of all that the Republican presidential candidate stands for.
The protesters included Muslims, Mexican Immigrants, women activists and relatives of Japanese Americans who were held in U.S. interment camps during World War II.
A spokesperson for the protesters said that the group has had it with Trump’s hateful and misinformed rhetoric, ranging from labeling Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists, to degrading women, and lately, by proposing that the U.S. impose a total ban on Muslims from entering the country.
“Las Vegas is an international destination whose population and business community reflect the diversity that has enriched this country,” the protesters said, “and a tower in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip that bears the name of a racist, misogynist and a dictator has no place in this city.”
The Adobo Chronicles learned that the protesters pretended to be a local social organization supporting the Republican and Tea Parties that wanted to hold a holiday party for its members. They rented the Trump Tower’s penthouse for the evening. At about 7pm, while traffic along Las Vegas Boulevard was at a stand still because of the Christmas eve rush hour, the protesters unfurled the red and white banner as motorists and tourists cheered and applauded.
Speaking from New York City, Trump said he cannot understand how the protesters were able to pull the stunt without his hotel staff and security detail uncovering the sinister plan. He said he suspects it was the result of an “inside job” by some of his Latino employees and he promised that people “are going to be fired” first thing on Christmas morning.
Similar protest are reportedly being planned in Honolulu, New York City and Doral (Florida) where Trump has real estate properties.
