NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wanted so much to be named Time magazine’s ‘Person of the Year,’ but when he got his wish, he declined the honor because it hurt his ego.
Time editors picked Trump over online survey frontrunner Bernie Sanders and Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, citing the fact that the real estate mogul has defied all reason by consistently topping Republican presidential polls despite his controversial rhetoric against Mexicans and immigrants and his defense of gun ownership, among many other issues.
Time picked an iconic photo of Trump that it thought best represented his personality and aura. Trump didn’t like the chosen photo, so he asked Time to stop the presses and formally declined to be named ‘Person of the Year.’
‘Besides, I don’t need to be on the cover of a cheap magazine. My images are already everywhere and I know people love me, and I love them,” Trump said.
